Android App Development

Custom Android apps planned around your users and business goals, built to run smoothly on the wide range of devices your customers actually use.

Reaching Customers Where They Are

In India, a large majority of smartphone users are on Android, across an enormous range of devices: from premium flagships to budget phones with limited memory, smaller screens and patchy network connections. For many businesses, an Android app is the most direct way to stay on a customer’s phone, whether that means letting them book appointments, reorder products, track deliveries, access learning content, manage accounts or receive timely updates. For internal teams, Android apps can replace paper forms and spreadsheets with field data collection, attendance, inspections, order taking and service reports.

Building a successful Android app takes more than writing code. The app must solve a clear problem, be simple to use for people with different levels of digital confidence, work reliably on low-cost devices and slow networks, keep user data secure, comply with Google Play policies and continue to work as Android versions change. Many apps fail not because the idea was poor but because the scope was unclear, the app was slow or confusing, it crashed on common devices, or nobody planned for updates after launch.

ViV Softech Solution is a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, and we develop Android apps for businesses across India as part of our mobile app development services. This page explains how we plan, design, build, test, publish and support native Android apps. If you need one app for both Android and iPhone from a single codebase, see cross-platform app development; for Apple devices specifically, see iOS app development.

Planning the Right App

Every project starts with discovery. We discuss what the app should achieve for your business, such as more repeat orders, faster bookings, fewer phone calls, better field data or a new revenue stream, and who will use it: customers, staff, delivery partners, students or vendors. We map the key user journeys step by step, list the features each journey requires and identify the systems the app must connect to, such as your website, CRM, inventory, payment gateway or accounting software.

We then help you prioritise. Most successful apps launch with a focused first version, often called a minimum viable product, that does a few things very well, followed by improvements based on real usage. This keeps the initial investment and timeline manageable and reduces the risk of building features nobody uses. The outcome of discovery is a written scope document listing screens, features, integrations, assumptions and exclusions, along with a timeline and quote, so both sides share the same understanding before development begins.

Designing for Real Android Users

Good app design is about making tasks easy, not just making screens attractive. We start with wireframes, simple layouts that show the structure of each screen and the flow between them, so you can review navigation and content before visual design begins. Clickable prototypes let you and selected users tap through the main journeys to spot confusion early, when changes are quick and inexpensive. Visual design then applies your brand colours, typography and imagery while following Android’s established patterns, such as the back gesture, navigation bars, system dialogs and permission prompts, so the app feels familiar to Android users. We design for the realities of the Indian market: screens from compact to large, text that remains readable when users increase font size, clear icons with labels, forms that minimise typing, support for Hindi or regional languages where needed, and layouts that work in both light and dark themes. Accessibility is considered from the start, including sufficient colour contrast, touch targets large enough to tap easily and support for screen readers, because an app that is easier for people with disabilities is usually easier for everyone. See app UI/UX design.

How We Build Android Apps

Modern native code

We develop native Android apps primarily in Kotlin, Google’s recommended language for Android, using Android Studio and current Jetpack libraries for reliable, maintainable code.

Clean architecture

Code is organised so features can be added and fixed without breaking others, which keeps future updates affordable.

Offline and slow networks

Where useful, the app stores data locally and syncs when a connection returns, so users in low-connectivity areas can keep working.

Performance

We keep app size, memory use and battery drain in check so the app runs well on budget devices.

Device features

Camera, location, notifications, barcode scanning, file uploads and biometrics, used only when the app genuinely needs them.

Payments and logins

Integration with Indian payment gateways and UPI flows through providers, plus secure login options such as OTP.

Backend, Admin Panels and Integrations

Most business apps need more than the app itself. A backend server and database store user accounts, orders, bookings, content and other data, and an admin panel lets your team manage that information, update content, view reports and respond to customers without needing a developer. We build secure backends and web-based admin panels, or connect the app to systems you already use through APIs.

Common integrations include your website and its content, CRM and lead management, inventory and order management, payment gateways, SMS and WhatsApp messaging providers, email services, maps and location services, analytics and push notification services. Where your existing system has an API, the app can share data with it in real time, avoiding double entry. See API integration and development and third-party software integration.

Security, Privacy and Play Policies

Secure Data

Encrypted connections, secure storage and protected APIs.

Minimal Permissions

Only the device permissions the app truly needs, explained to users.

Policy Compliance

Privacy policy, data safety declarations and content rules addressed.

Apps often handle personal information such as names, phone numbers, addresses and payment details. We follow secure development practices, request only necessary permissions and help you prepare the privacy policy and Google Play data safety information that describe how data is collected and used. India’s data protection law and rules also place obligations on businesses handling personal data; we build features such as consent and account deletion where required, but we recommend legal advice to confirm your specific compliance obligations.

Testing and Google Play Launch

Android’s variety of manufacturers, screen sizes and operating system versions makes thorough testing essential. We test on a selection of real devices representing your users, from budget to premium, alongside emulators covering different Android versions and screen sizes. Testing covers functionality, user journeys, performance, behaviour on slow or interrupted connections, battery and memory use, permissions, notifications, payments in test mode, accessibility and security basics. You and selected users can try pre-release versions through Google Play testing tracks before the public launch, and feedback is fixed before release. For launch, we help set up or use your Google Play developer account in your business name, so you retain ownership of the app listing. We prepare the store listing with a clear title, description, screenshots and graphics, complete the content rating questionnaire and policy declarations, and submit the app for review. Google reviews apps against its policies and decides on approval, so timelines can vary and occasional changes may be requested. A staged rollout to a percentage of users can be used for major releases, reducing the impact of unexpected issues. Promoting the app after launch is covered by app promotion campaigns.

Support After Launch

An app is never truly finished. New Android versions are released regularly, Google Play periodically raises the minimum target version that apps must support, libraries need security updates, and users will suggest improvements. Without maintenance, apps gradually develop problems or may become unavailable to new users on the Play Store. We offer maintenance plans covering compatibility updates, bug fixes, security patches, performance monitoring and small enhancements.

We monitor crash reports and app performance after launch and review user ratings and feedback to identify problems quickly. Analytics show which features are used and where users drop off, guiding the next version. At handover, you receive the source code, documentation and access details as agreed in your contract, so your app is never locked to a single provider.
