App UI/UX Design

Mobile app experiences that feel simple, look polished and help users complete tasks without confusion, designed and tested before a line of code is written.

Design Decides Whether Apps Get Used

People decide quickly whether an app is worth keeping. If the first screens are confusing, sign-up is long, important actions are hard to find or buttons are too small to tap comfortably, many users abandon the app and some leave negative reviews. Good app design removes these frustrations. User experience design, often called UX, focuses on how the app works: the steps users take, the information they need at each point, the structure of navigation and the handling of errors. User interface design, or UI, focuses on how it looks: layout, typography, colours, icons and visual feedback. Both must work together for an app to feel intuitive and trustworthy.

Designing before development also saves money. Changing a screen in a design tool takes minutes; changing it after development can take days. Clickable prototypes let you and real users experience the app’s flow early, uncover problems and refine ideas while they are still inexpensive to change. A complete design system and clear specifications then help developers build exactly what was intended, reducing back-and-forth and inconsistent screens.

ViV Softech Solution is a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, and we design mobile app interfaces and experiences for businesses across India as part of our mobile app development services. This page focuses on app design for phones and tablets. Website interface design is covered by custom UI/UX website design, and building the app by our Android, iOS and cross-platform development services.

Understanding Users and Their Context

Design starts with the people who will use the app. We discuss your goals and gather insight about users: who they are, what they want to achieve, how often they will use the app, their comfort with technology, the devices they use and the conditions they use them in. A delivery partner using an app with one hand on a busy street, a patient booking an appointment, a student revising for an exam and a factory supervisor recording inspections all need different designs.

Research methods depend on budget and timelines: short interviews with representative users, reviews of support questions and customer feedback, analysis of an existing app or website, and a review of competing or similar apps to understand expectations and opportunities. For Indian audiences, we consider factors such as varied device quality, network conditions, language preferences and differing levels of digital confidence. Findings are summarised into user profiles and key tasks that guide every design decision.

Structuring the Experience

Before visual design, we define how the app is organised. An information architecture maps the main sections and how they relate, and navigation patterns are chosen to suit the app’s purpose, such as a bottom tab bar for frequently switched sections or a simpler linear flow for task-based apps. User flows chart each important journey step by step, for example sign-up, searching for a product, booking an appointment, completing payment or submitting a report, including what happens when something goes wrong, such as a failed payment, a lost connection or invalid input. Wireframes then lay out each screen in simple greyscale, focusing on content, hierarchy and interaction rather than colour and decoration. This stage is where many important decisions are made: reducing the number of steps for common tasks, deciding what information is essential on each screen, simplifying forms, choosing sensible defaults, and planning onboarding so new users understand the value of the app quickly without long tutorials. Permissions such as location, camera and notifications are requested at the moment they make sense, with a short explanation, rather than all at once on first launch, which tends to cause refusals. Empty states, loading states and error messages are designed too, because these moments strongly affect how polished and trustworthy an app feels.

Prototyping and Usability Testing

Clickable prototypes

Linked screens that behave like a real app, viewable on your own phone.

Stakeholder review

Your team experiences the flow and gives feedback early.

User testing

Representative users attempt key tasks while we observe where they hesitate.

Task success

We note whether users complete tasks and how long they take.

Iteration

Designs are refined based on findings before development.

Accessibility checks

Contrast, text sizes and touch targets reviewed.

Even small rounds of testing with a handful of users often reveal problems that the design team and stakeholders overlooked. Fixing them in the prototype is far cheaper than after launch.

Visual Design for Android and iOS

Visual design brings your brand to the app through colour, typography, imagery, iconography and motion, while respecting platform conventions. Android’s Material Design and Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines describe how users expect navigation, controls, dialogs and gestures to behave. Following these conventions where it matters helps the app feel familiar, while your brand makes it distinctive. For cross-platform apps, we balance a shared design with platform-specific adjustments.

We design for real devices: a range of screen sizes, safe areas around notches and system bars, light and dark modes, and users who enlarge system text. Accessibility is built in, with sufficient contrast, clear labels for screen readers, touch targets large enough for comfortable tapping and information never conveyed by colour alone. Motion is used purposefully to show transitions and feedback, not as decoration. See brand identity design.

Design Systems and Developer Handoff

Component Library

Reusable buttons, inputs, cards, lists and navigation elements.

Specifications

Spacing, sizes, colours, fonts and states documented.

Assets

Icons and images exported in required formats and sizes.

A design system keeps the app consistent as it grows and makes future features faster to design and build. Developers receive organised design files with inspectable measurements, interaction notes and assets. We remain available during development to answer questions and review builds against the designs. See style guides and design systems.

Redesigning an Existing App

If you already have an app with low ratings, poor retention, high support volumes or an outdated look, a redesign can make a significant difference. We begin by understanding what is going wrong, using app store reviews, support tickets, analytics showing where users drop off, and usability testing of the current app. Often a handful of specific problems, such as a complicated sign-up, confusing navigation, slow-feeling screens or unclear error messages, cause most of the frustration. We prioritise improvements by impact and effort, so the most valuable changes can be released first rather than waiting for a complete overhaul. Where a full redesign is needed, we plan it carefully to avoid alienating existing users: keeping familiar elements where they work, introducing changes gradually where possible, and communicating improvements in release notes. After launch, we recommend monitoring ratings, reviews, task completion and retention to confirm that changes are helping, and continuing to refine the design as user needs and platforms evolve. App design is not a one-time activity; the best apps improve continuously based on how people actually use them. We can support ongoing design work alongside your development team, or provide a design system and guidelines that keep future updates consistent.
