Shared Hosting Setup

Affordable, properly configured hosting for small business websites, with SSL, backups, security basics and performance settings set up correctly from day one.

The Right Starting Point for Many Websites

Shared hosting places many websites on the same server, sharing its resources and cost. For small business websites, portfolios, brochure sites, local service businesses, blogs and early-stage startups with modest traffic, it offers an affordable and practical way to get online. Hosting providers manage the server itself, provide a control panel such as cPanel or a custom dashboard, and often include email, free SSL certificates and one-click WordPress installation.

Yet shared hosting is frequently set up carelessly. Businesses choose the cheapest plan without checking server location, support quality or renewal pricing; websites go live without SSL or with mixed content warnings; backups are left to the host’s discretion; outdated PHP versions slow sites and create security risks; email is configured without authentication and lands in spam; and accounts are registered in a developer’s name, causing problems later. Correct setup avoids these issues and gives your website a stable, secure foundation at a sensible cost.

ViV Softech Solution is a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, and we set up shared hosting for small business websites across India as part of our website hosting services. Faster, more scalable options are covered by cloud hosting setup and VPS hosting configuration, and WordPress-specific optimisation by WordPress hosting setup.

Choosing a Reliable Shared Hosting Plan

Not all shared hosting is equal. We compare options on factors that actually matter: server location close to your audience, ideally in India for Indian visitors; uptime track record; support responsiveness; storage type such as SSD or NVMe; resource limits such as CPU, memory and processes; included backups; free SSL; email features; and, importantly, renewal prices, since introductory offers often increase significantly at renewal.

We recommend plans with sufficient headroom for your site’s needs, avoiding both underpowered plans that slow your site and expensive add-ons you will never use. The hosting account is registered in your business’s name with your payment method, so you retain full ownership and control. Hosting fees are paid directly to the provider.

Configuring the Account Properly

Once the plan is chosen, careful configuration makes the difference between a website that runs smoothly and one that suffers recurring problems. We connect your domain to the hosting by updating nameservers or DNS records, keeping any existing email or verification records intact so nothing breaks during the switch. An SSL certificate, usually free through Let’s Encrypt or the host’s AutoSSL, is installed and set to renew automatically, and the website is configured to load only over HTTPS with proper redirects from HTTP and from www or non-www versions to a single preferred address, avoiding duplicate versions in search engines. The PHP version is set to a current, supported release compatible with your website, which improves speed and security; we also adjust PHP limits such as memory and upload size where needed. Server-level caching and compression are enabled where the host supports them, and for WordPress sites, a suitable caching plugin may be configured. Databases are created with strong credentials. Security basics include strong, unique passwords for the control panel and FTP, two-factor authentication where available, SFTP instead of plain FTP, removal of unused applications and sample files, and correct file permissions. Backups are configured using the host’s tools and, for added safety, an independent backup solution storing copies off the server, because relying solely on the host’s backups can leave you exposed if the account itself has problems. For email, we recommend whether to use the host’s email or a dedicated business email service, and if host email is used, we configure SPF and DKIM records for better delivery. Finally, we document all logins, settings and renewal dates in a secure handover note.

Moving From Another Host

If your current host is slow, unreliable or poorly supported, we can move your website to a better shared hosting plan. Files and databases are copied, the site is tested on the new server before switching DNS, and email accounts are migrated or redirected so communication continues uninterrupted.

Moves are scheduled at low-traffic times, and the old hosting remains active until everything is confirmed working. For complex moves, see website migration. Ongoing upkeep is available through website maintenance plans.
