Website Banners and Sliders

Hero images, banners and promotional graphics that make a strong first impression, communicate clearly and look sharp on every screen size.

The First Thing Visitors See

The top section of a web page, often called the hero area, is the first thing visitors see and usually decides whether they keep scrolling or leave. A strong hero banner communicates what the business does, who it is for and what to do next within a few seconds, supported by an image that feels relevant and trustworthy. A weak one, such as a generic stock photo with a vague slogan, text that is unreadable over a busy background, or an image that crops awkwardly on mobile, wastes the most valuable space on the page.

Many websites also use banners for campaigns, offers, new launches and announcements, on the homepage, category pages, blog sidebars and pop-ups. Rotating sliders were once very popular, but research and usability experience have shown that many visitors ignore later slides, auto-rotation can be distracting, and heavy slider images slow down pages. Good banner design today focuses on clarity, performance and purpose: a single, strong hero for most pages, with carefully designed campaign banners and sliders used only where they genuinely help.

ViV Softech Solution is a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, and we design website banners and hero graphics for businesses across India as part of our digital graphic design services. Complete website design projects are covered by our website design services, and banner copy can be supported by landing page copy.

Clarity First, Decoration Second

A banner’s job is to communicate, so we start with the message rather than the image. A clear headline that states what you offer or the outcome customers get, a short supporting line, and one primary call to action such as Get a Quote or Shop the Collection form the core. The visual then reinforces that message: real photographs of your work, products, team or premises where possible, or carefully chosen imagery that reflects your actual customers and context.

Readability is essential. Text needs strong contrast against the background, using overlays, solid areas or careful image selection so it stays legible. Font sizes must remain readable on phones. We avoid embedding important text inside images where possible, preferring live HTML text over a background image, which is better for accessibility, search engines and responsive layouts. Where text must be part of an image, we create separate mobile versions.

Designing for Every Screen and Fast Loading

Banners must look right on a wide desktop monitor, a laptop, a tablet and a narrow phone screen, and the same image rarely works for all of them. A wide landscape photo that looks dramatic on desktop may crop the key subject out entirely on mobile, leaving only an empty background. We plan focal points and safe areas so the important part of the image stays visible as the layout adapts, and when necessary we design separate desktop and mobile compositions, with the mobile version arranged vertically and text placed where it is easy to read. We work with your website platform’s capabilities, such as WordPress themes and page builders, Shopify sections or custom code, so banners can be implemented as intended. Performance is just as important as appearance, because large hero images are one of the most common causes of slow page loads and poor Core Web Vitals scores, particularly the Largest Contentful Paint measurement. We export images at appropriate dimensions rather than oversized originals, compress them carefully to balance quality and file size, and use modern formats such as WebP where your platform supports them. For hero images that appear immediately on load, we advise on settings such as preloading and avoiding lazy loading for that first image, while lazy loading other banners further down the page. Sliders get particular attention: each additional slide adds weight, so we keep slide counts small, avoid fast auto-rotation that frustrates readers, ensure navigation controls are easy to use on touch screens, and make the first slide the most important because many visitors never see the others. Where performance problems already exist, see Core Web Vitals optimisation.

Accessibility and Brand Consistency

Accessible banners help every visitor. We provide descriptive alt text for meaningful images, maintain sufficient colour contrast, avoid flashing animations, and ensure sliders can be paused and navigated by keyboard where implemented. Buttons are large enough to tap and clearly labelled.

Banners follow your brand colours, typography and visual style so every page feels part of the same website. If your brand lacks clear visual rules, see brand guidelines. Authentic imagery can be captured through business and team photography.
