Multilingual Chatbot

A chatbot that talks to customers in Hindi, English and Hinglish, and in other languages where the technology and your content can support it reliably.

Customers Prefer to Chat in Their Own Language

India’s customers use many languages, and often more than one within a single message. A shopper in Jaipur might write in English at work and in Hindi to a business, a customer in Pune might mix Marathi and English, and many people type Hindi in the Roman alphabet because it is faster on a phone. A chatbot that only understands formal English will misread these messages, give irrelevant answers or force customers to repeat themselves. Customers who feel misunderstood rarely stay.

A multilingual chatbot is designed for this reality. It recognises the language the customer is using, replies in the same language, handles mixed language and Roman-script Hindi, and keeps the conversation consistent whichever language is chosen. For many businesses, supporting Hindi and English well is already a significant improvement, and expanding to a few more languages can come later.

ViV Softech Solution is a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, and we build multilingual chatbots as part of our AI chatbots services. This page covers the language layer that can sit on top of support, sales or FAQ assistants; see customer support chatbot, sales enquiry assistant and FAQ knowledge-base chatbot. For website pages in several languages, see multilingual SEO.

Honest About What Is Supported

AI language quality is uneven. Hindi and English are generally strong, and several other Indian languages are decent but less reliable on specialised, technical or regional vocabulary. Some platforms handle certain scripts or voice messages better than others. We tell you plainly what works well, what works with caution and what we advise against.

For each language, we test real customer phrases before recommending it. If quality is not good enough, a better approach may be buttons in that language, human-written replies for key topics, or starting with fewer languages and expanding as results justify it.

How We Build a Multilingual Chatbot That Works

We begin by finding out which languages your customers actually use. We look at past chats, emails, call notes, website language settings, Google Analytics language and location data, and what your staff tell us. Planning for languages nobody uses wastes money, while missing a language that many customers prefer loses sales. Next we decide the content approach. For important topics such as prices, returns, delivery and legal terms, we recommend human-written and reviewed versions in each supported language, because mistranslated policy wording can cause real disputes. For lower-risk topics, AI translation of your knowledge base can be used with spot checks by a native speaker. The chatbot then retrieves answers in the customer’s language from the matching version. We design the conversation so key steps work even if the language model misunderstands: buttons and lists carry translated labels, and clear fallback messages explain what to do next in the customer’s language. Scripts and fonts are tested on common phones, including Devanagari and other regional scripts, so text does not appear as empty boxes. For WhatsApp, we handle message template translations, since each language needs its own approved templates; see WhatsApp Business API. We also plan for transliterated input, such as “mera order kab aayega”, which many language systems misread. We test these phrases extensively, along with spelling variations, slang, abbreviations, emojis and voice-note transcription, if you want voice supported. Staff routing is set up so a customer writing in Tamil is transferred to someone who can respond in Tamil, or the chat is honestly flagged for a delayed reply. After launch, we review chats by language to compare satisfaction, handover rates and unanswered questions, and improve the weaker languages first. We do not promise perfect translation or native-level nuance in every language, and we recommend native-speaker review for customer-facing content that has legal, financial or health implications.

Things We Check for Each Language

Does it grasp real customer phrasing?

Tone

Polite, natural, not stiff or literal.

Display

Scripts render properly on phones.

Accuracy

Prices, dates and policies are correct.

Handover

Right-to-left languages such as Urdu need extra layout testing.

Where Language Fits Your Wider Plan

Language choices should match your marketing. If ads and website pages are in Hindi, a Hindi chatbot completes the experience; see multilingual SEO for search visibility.
