We start by establishing the single source of truth: a profile master sheet holding the official business name, legal name where relevant, address format, phone numbers, email, website, categories, services, descriptions at several lengths, opening hours, social handles, logo files and approved photos. We confirm each item with you. Next we audit where your business appears. We search Google, Maps, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Apple Business Connect, Bing Places, WhatsApp Business, Justdial, Sulekha, IndiaMART where relevant, industry directories and your own website. For each profile we record the URL, who owns or manages it, and how it differs from the master sheet. Typical gaps include an old logo, a former phone number, a missing category, outdated hours, an inconsistent spelling of the name and links pointing to old pages. We also note profiles that nobody can access, which need ownership claims. We then prioritise. Platforms that appear in search and maps, such as Google and Apple, and those your customers use most come first. For each, we update fields to match the master sheet, within platform rules. We write fitting description versions: a short tagline, a medium summary and a long About text that share the same facts. We update images to current versions, with correct sizes for each platform, and make sure that the profile photo is recognisable at a small size. We align links so that every profile sends visitors to a relevant page, such as your main service page or booking page, and add tracking tags to see which profiles drive visits. Where a profile is not yours or cannot be edited, we submit claims or suggest edits, and where a profile is obsolete, we advise on closure or redirection. For businesses with multiple branches, we coordinate branch-level differences; see multi-location listing coordination. Duplicates found during the audit are listed for action; see duplicate listing identification. We deliver an updated register of profiles and a short style guide so your team can keep things consistent when something changes, such as a new phone number, a holiday schedule or a rebrand. We recommend a quarterly check, since platforms sometimes change data on their own through user suggestions. We cannot control third-party sites that refuse changes, and we cannot guarantee ranking improvements, but consistent, accurate profiles reduce confusion, support local visibility and present a trustworthy brand. For Google specifically, see Google Business Profile optimization.
