Click-to-WhatsApp Links

One tap opens a chat with your business, with the right message pre-filled and the source recorded.

Make Starting a Chat Effortless

Customers rarely save a business number before messaging. A well-built link removes that step: it opens WhatsApp with your number and a ready message such as “Hi, I would like a quote for the 2BHK package”. Badly built links fail on some phones, lose the number format or give you no idea which campaign brought the chat.

ViV Softech Solution, a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, builds these links within our WhatsApp business setup services.

This page is about the link itself. Website buttons and floating icons are WhatsApp contact buttons on websites, print entry codes are QR-code-based WhatsApp entry points, and choosing between calling and chatting is call and WhatsApp conversion pathways.

Respectful by Design

A link only lets a customer start a chat. It does not give you permission to send them promotions later, and we separate the two clearly.

Pre-filled text is always editable by the customer, and we never write messages that pretend to come from them for something they did not ask.

How We Create Click-to-WhatsApp Links

We begin by deciding which number the links will use and who answers it. A link opens a chat with a specific WhatsApp number, so we confirm whether it is a personal app, the WhatsApp Business app or an API number, and whether the team can handle the expected volume; see customer support workflows. We then list the places where a link could help: service pages, product pages, the contact page, email footers, newsletters, social profiles, posts and stories, Google Business Profile messages where allowed, ads, invoices and quotation documents. For each place we decide the purpose, such as pricing questions, booking, support or order status. Next we build the link. The standard format uses the wa.me address with the full international phone number, digits only, and an optional text parameter that is URL-encoded so spaces and symbols work. We test numbers with country codes, avoid leading zeros and plus signs, and check that the link opens correctly on Android, iPhone, WhatsApp Web and desktop. We write the pre-filled messages. A good one is short, specific and in the customer’s voice, for example “Hi, I want to book a site visit for interior design in Noida”. We may add a reference at the end, such as a short code like “Ref: SEO-PG”, so your team can see where the chat began. We keep the wording natural, avoid long text and offer several variations by page so that the first message already carries context. We prepare a link sheet listing each link, the page or campaign it belongs to, the message and the reference code. For measurement, we add campaign tags to the page address where the link is on the website, and track taps as events; see WhatsApp click tracking. Where you advertise, we help with link choices for ads; see lead generation landing pages. We install the links where you want them, and show your team how to read the reference codes and tag chats in the business app, using labels. We discuss response expectations and an away message, and point out that people who click may still hesitate, so a quick, polite first reply matters; see automated FAQ responses. We also set a monthly check to confirm links still work after website or number changes. We cannot track what a customer types after the chat opens, and click counts include accidental taps, but well-built links make it easy for interested customers to reach you and show which sources bring conversations.
