Video Resizing for Different Platforms

Turn one video into vertical, square and wide versions that are reframed properly, not just cropped, for Reels, Shorts, LinkedIn, ads and your website.

One Video, Many Screens

A video shot wide for YouTube looks cramped on a phone. A vertical Reel looks lost with black bars on a desktop. Cutting off the sides can chop heads, titles and key products. Each platform has its own shape, safe areas and length limits, and viewers judge a video within seconds.

ViV Softech Solution, a website designing and digital marketing agency in Delhi, prepares platform-ready versions within our short-form video content services.

It is about adapting existing footage. New short videos are made as Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and promotional short videos, while captions are covered by video editing, subtitles and captions.

Formats We Deliver

Vertical 9:16

Reels, Shorts, stories and vertical ads.

Square 1:1

Feeds, carousels and compact placements.

Portrait 4:5

Taller feed posts that fill the screen.

Wide 16:9

YouTube, websites and presentations.

Captions Re-Fitted

Subtitles placed inside safe zones.

Length Variants

Cut-downs that meet platform limits.

Right-Sized, Not Distorted

We never stretch footage. Where the source cannot support a new shape, we say so and suggest a re-shoot or a different layout.

Platform specifications change often, so we check current guidance when we work. We make no promise of views or reach.

How We Resize Videos for Different Platforms

We start by inspecting your source files. We check resolution, frame rate, aspect ratio, length, audio quality, any burned-in text or logos and how the original was framed. A 4K wide master gives plenty of room to reframe; a low-resolution file does not. We then decide where each version will be published and what it must do. We list target platforms, such as Instagram Reels and stories, Facebook feed, YouTube Shorts and regular YouTube, LinkedIn, X, WhatsApp status, your website hero and paid ads, with their current preferred shapes, length limits, file size limits and caption behaviour. We note where the interface covers part of the picture, such as buttons, usernames and descriptions, and plan safe zones so important elements remain visible. Next, we reframe rather than crop. For each shot we choose the best crop window or reposition the subject, and where needed we animate the crop to follow a speaker or product, or use a smart tracking tool and then check it manually. For wide scenes that must go vertical, we may split the frame, stack two views, add a blurred or branded background, or use a different take. We re-time cuts so that faces and actions are readable in the smaller picture. We redo on-screen text because titles placed for a wide picture often collide with the edges in vertical form. We rebuild lower-thirds, logos and calls to action to fit the new layout, and keep them large enough to read on a phone. We re-fit captions or subtitles so they sit inside safe areas, use a readable size and contrast and do not hide the speaker; see video editing, subtitles and captions. We trim for length where needed, creating a 15 to 30 second cut for short platforms from a longer film, keeping the hook in the first seconds and the message intact. We then adjust audio levels so that all versions play at a consistent loudness and ensure the video still works with the sound off. Finally we export with settings suited to each platform: codec, bit rate, resolution, frame rate and file size, balancing quality with upload limits. We name files clearly by platform, ratio and version. We provide a preview sheet and test uploads, when you give access, to confirm how each version appears on a phone. For reuse, we can also supply cover images and thumbnails; see social media post designs. We keep a master project, so changes to the original can be re-exported to all sizes later; see videos into short clips for pulling clips from long videos. We cannot recover detail that was never recorded, and platforms can recompress uploads, but careful reframing gives each platform a version that looks intended for it.
